 From the 31st March all patients will be allocated an accountable named Gp.  If a patient wishes to express a preference as to which Gp , we as a practice will make every reasonable effort to accommodate the request.  If a patient confirms they do not want a named accountable Gp this will be recordred in the patients record. The named accountable Gp will be resonsible for the patients overall care.

In addition patients who are over 75, the Gp will work with relevant associated health & social care professionals to deliver a multi-disciplinary care package to meet the patients needs.  An over 75 health check will be offered by the practice and the practice will review whether a change og named Gp is required upon attaining the age of 75.

Plan to Meet GMS / PMS 2015-16 Contractual Requirement for Patient Online Service


This practice plans to offer the facility for patients to view online, export or print detailed coded information held in their own records from 01.04.2016.


These dates are subject to the necessary NHS GP systems and software being available to the practice.


This practice currently offers the facility for patients:

  • to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online
  • to order online, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines or appliances
  • to view online, export or print summary information from their record, relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the practice and individual patient


We publicise and promote our online services to our practice’s patients through the practice website, practice waiting room leaflets, posters and the Patient Participation Group.

 We are looking for patients to join us at Edgworth Medical Centre, please speak to reception if you would like to participate in our meetings.





 A new vaccination scheme has been introduced which recommends  students aged between 17 & 25 years old, who are starting University for the first time (Freshers), are to have a Meningococcal C immunisation.  It is advisable to have this vaccination 2 weeks prior to starting University.  Please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment with our Practice Nurse.

From the week commencing Monday 6th January Edgworth Medical Centre will close on Wednesdays at 13.00pm, although The Surgery at Edgerton & Dunscar will remain open as usual until 18.30pm.

Are you aware that your personal medical information that you share with your GP or other healthcare professional is about to be extracted and stored on a computer outside of the control of this practice where the practice will have no say on who has access to that information.  If you are happy for NHS England to direct the HSCIC to extract, store and manage/use your personal information then you need do NOTHING as the information will be automatically taken from your GP's computer system.

If  you don't wish your information to be extracted then you MUST inform your GP who will provide an opt out form, thus blocking the uploading of your identifiable and personal information to the HSCIC.  PLEASE PICK UP A LEAFLET FROM RECEPTION OUTLINING THESE IMPORTANT CHANGES TO HOW WE HANDLE PERSONAL DATA.

Out of Hours Service update:  Due to the high demand in the use of the Out Of Hours Service, the new system is unable to cope with the high volume of calls, therfore 111 has been disarmed until further notice.  If you require the Out of Hours Service please ring 0161 763 8940.

 New Tiriage System now in place DAILY for NON URGENT CASES with qualified prescribing/referring clinician.
