Message from Dr Leach (09/07/2021)
It is five years since I took over as general practice principal for Edgworth medical practice. It has been one of the happiest in my professional career. Thank you patients and staff! I want to tell you about some of the principles that I want to guide our work.
We want to help people lead healthier lives. The way we live our lives has more effect on developing disease and becoming ill than many medical treatments.
We want to provide great and responsive health care. We want to have as much assessment and treatment at the surgery as we can. I would like this to include care traditionally provided by hospital clinics. We want anyone who wants to be a patient of the practice to be one. As long as you don’t live too far away.
Health services can do harm to people through mistakes, over-investigation and over and unnecessary treatment. We want to do our best to make sure this does not happen.
We want to contribute and promote our local community. Most of our staff live locally.
We want to improve or at least reduce any harm to our natural environment. We plan to review any pollution and waste we create and find ways to recycle more. We want to help preserve the countryside and its wildlife.
We want patients and the local community to have a major say in what we do and how we do it. If there are things you feel we do well and want us to do more of. If there are things you feel we should not do or do less of. If there are new things you feel we should be doing. Please do write to us or email us. We will put comments and suggestions on our website.
Thank you.
Dr Jack Leach
