Pride in Practice

Edgworth Medical Centre & The Surgery, Bromley Cross has recently achieved the Pride In Practice Gold Award to celebrate their dedication to delivering an excellent service to all patients.
Pride in Practice is a service provided by The Lesbian & Gay Foundation to GP practices to support improvements in health outcomes for their lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) patients, as well as strengthen their engagement with, and understanding of, that community.
Weekend appointments are now available with a GP or Nurse
As a registered patient of this GP surgery, additional routine GP and nurse appointments are now available at alternative Health Centres in Bolton if you are unable to get a convenient appointment at our practice. These appointments are available at:
- Winifred Kettle Centre - Westhoughton
- Waters Meeting Health Centre - Astley Bridge
- Urgent Treatment Centre - Royal Bolton Hospital
Monday - Friday 6.30pm - 9.30pm
Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays 9.00am - 1.00pm
Please note these appointments need to be pre-booked and are not available as walk-in appointments.
If you would like to book one of these appointments, contact the Surgery by telephone or call in during usual opening hours, and we can let you know what is available. You can see the GP at any of these surgeries about your current health conditions, or something new that has arisen but you are not able to get to Surgery for an appointment within usual opening times. The nurses can carry out blood tests, blood pressure checks, and provide contraception amongst other things. You will not be seen at our Surgery with our usual nurses and GP's.
Please be aware that this service is accessed by several other GP practices in the Bolton area, and appointments can often be booked fairly quickly according to demand for the services. At the time of booking, we will advise you which Practice you will need to attend, the time, and the name of the Doctor or Nurse who you will be seeing.
If you need an emergency appointment at weekends or bank holidays, you can ring the usual out of hours service.

Cupcake Day 6 June 2016
Another great big THANK YOU to all patients and staff for helping to make Cupcake Day a scrumptious success. Every crumb you made and every penny you raised £136.53 for the Alzheimer Society really does count.
Sponsored Bungee Jump
On November 8th Dr Leach and Mitch (reception) will be doing a sponsored bungee jump to raise funds for another defibrillator (AED) to be based at Egerton and Dunscar Health Centre. As you may remember Dr Leach completed the Manchester 10k and successfully raised enough funds for a defibrillator for Edgworth Medical Centre. Staff are now fully trained and the defibrillator is now located in the reception area. Please get behind this worthy cause!
